Tasman District Council

Moutere-Waimea Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Moutere-Waimea ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I want the Tasman District to be a thriving place where future generations will have high levels of environmental, economic, cultural and social wellbeing. I want to be able to make a contribution to that future. Local government decisions impact at many levels on citizens, and it's crucial that decision-making is robust.

About me

I have had a career at the executive level in central government and am a Chartered Accountant who has held previous governance roles. Additionally, I feel that I am connected at the community level through various local committee positions. As a rural land owner, I have gained an understanding of impacts of local and central government decisions on the rural community.

My priorities
  1. Support landowners, communities and staff in the recovery from the most recent rainfall events.
  2. Seek further opportunities to provide for affordable/social housing by partnering with others.
  3. Implement the Walking and Cycling Strategy and the enhanced Public Transport Plan.
