Why I'm standing

I am standing for local council for the opportunity to champion the cause of ratepayers and local people who are frustrated by existing legislation and proposed new legislation. Local council is under threat from central government, Resource Management Act review, Three Waters and Future for Local Government reform have the potential to destroy local government. Communities risk losing control of their own affairs and being dictated to by inefficient faceless bureaucrats from central government.

About me

I strongly believe in democracy and public service. I believe in local autonomy and self-determination. I am a strong advocate for private property rights. I believe councils' first priority is to deliver the core services that are necessary for our community to function safely and efficiently, councils second priority is to plan for the future, anticipating what's required to meet climate and growth challenges. Other non-essential expenditure is a luxury.

My priorities
  1. Keep local democratic control, oppose Three Waters, direct Resource Management Act and Future for Local Government reforms.
  2. Preserve private property rights change culture from enforcement and regulation to co-operation.
  3. Bring council, business, individuals and non profit groups together for positive environment outcomes.
