Waikato Regional Council

Waikato General Constituency
The Waikato Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Two councillors will be elected from the Waikato constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue work that will improve the quality of the water in our waterways.

    Ensure landowner representatives, ie targeted ratepayers, are included in decision making about drainage and river management.

  • I will ramp up Waikato Regional Council actions to prioritise work in the water security space to enable action on the ground.

    Water quality is Waikato Regional Council's first responsibility. I will ensure all freshwater including coastal water is been managed to achieve highest standard.

    Insure Waikato Regional Council improves in-stream values for native biodiversity. Resulting in living water, safe recreationally and for food collection.
