  • Support of the Waitaki Sports Centre and Waitaki Geopark which add to our community soul and make us stand tall in visitors' eyes.

Support of events and activities that enable community connection, enhance our wellbeing and make us proud to live here. A 'Stronger Waitaki'!

  • Protect our current open-spaces and advocate to develop more reserves within our district.

Develop and promote more community events to bring culture back to Waitaki.

  • Sports and Events centre must be built – with the grandstand – and be fit for purpose. Locals should be given first option on build and fit out.

Create framework for a network of successful events (arts, cultural, sporting and environmental) and facilitate their promotion and sustainability.

Support the Geopark and opportunities which come from that part of our story being told through food, ecotourism and global recognition.

  • Support provision of good quality community facilities to enable the community to thrive.

  • Commit to enhancing community nature spaces.

  • Incentivise and rebuild active participation of our children and youth in music, arts and culture for the future success of these groups.

Work for successful completion of our events centre that balances our needs against what we can afford.

Projects that require significant investment can apply for council to underwrite on basis of potential economic gains to wider community.

  • Restore neglected reserves throughout the district to the purpose intended by our forebears when they created them.

Investigate new sporting facilities throughout the district, supporting all our communities.

  • Build the Waitaki Event Centre!

Give more support to our major annual events, and new events, to ensure they are sustainable and successful.

Invest more in arts, culture and heritage – and do more to support and promote the people and places that make this district so special.

  • Events Centre progress, getting the best complex we can achieve for a cost that our community can sensibly afford.

Encourage and support the rejuvenation of loved community events, for example a food and wine festival in the Oamaru Gardens.
