Why I'm standing

I fell in love with the beautiful Whangārei Heads area some years ago and decided this was the place I wanted to spend my retirement, devoting my time to community-based and conservation projects including Te Whara/Bream Head Trust, where I look after some of the predator traps. I sit on several charity boards and I'm a member of the Institute of Directors.

About me

I come from a humble and hardworking background, being raised in a State-owned house in Staffordshire, UK. I left school at 15 and, through a combination of hard work and good fortune, had a successful career with Lloyds Bank. I left banking after almost 20 years and forged a new career in the not-for-profit sector working for several charities in both the UK and New Zealand. My final role before retiring was CEO of Coastguard.

My priorities
  1. Represent our community by listening to, consulting with, and advocating on behalf of all residents.
  2. Ensure that the beautiful Whangārei Heads area is protected from inappropriate housing development.
  3. Conserve and protect our unique natural environment through improved predator and pest control.
