Woodend-Sefton Community Board

The Woodend-Sefton Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waimakariri District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

  • Establish a review of speed limits, "car racing" and "burnouts" etc in rural communities with help from NZ Police.

  • Lobby New Zealand Transport Agency and council to progress the planned road safety improvements from the Ashley River bridge to Kaiapoi.

    Advocate and work with New Zealand Transport Agency and council to improve connections for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly at the Pegasus/Ravenswood roundabout.

    Advocate and work with Environment Canterbury and council staff towards an improved bus service for the Woodend, Pegasus and Waikuku area.

  • Work with council and relevant agencies to ensure a safe road crossing at the Pegasus roundabout.

    Investigate improved public transport links between Pegasus/Woodend, Kaiapoi and Rangiora.
