Why I'm standing

By the time I leave parliament, I want to have contributed to a fairer tax system, significantly reduced inequality in New Zealand and a world-leading pilot climate change adaptation plan for South Dunedin delivered by local and central government working together. I want to ensure the deep South continues to have a strong voice in parliament, and that marginalised groups, including the elderly, have equitable access to public services including health.

About me

I bring maturity and life experience to my role as an MP. A journalist, university lecturer, lawyer, small business owner and international relations specialist, I have lived in NZ and Fiji and worked in the development sector across East Asia and the Pacific. I am passionate about performance management and brought this lens to my work as Chair of the influential Finance and Expenditure Committee in the 53rd Parliament.

My priorities
  1. Secure funding for an ambitious pilot climate change adaptation plan for South Dunedin.
  2. Secure funding for a new emergency accommodation facility in Taieri and more transitional housing.
  3. Ensure people in Dunedin and South Otago have equitable access to PET scanning facilities.
