Upper Harbour electorate

Upper Harbour covers the upper reaches of the Waitematā Harbour on both sides of the Upper Harbour Bridge, including Glenfield, Hobsonville, West Harbour and Massey. The seat is currently held by Labour's Vanushi Walters, who won comfortably with a margin of 2,392. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Upper Harbour – 48% to National's 31%. Population growth in Auckland required the Waitakere electorate to be split into Upper Harbour and Kelston ahead of the 2014 election. Upper Harbour was held by former National deputy leader Paula Bennett until it was won by Labour in 2020.

Why I'm standing

I am proudly standing as National's candidate for Upper Harbour as I believe I have the skills and experience to be an effective representative for the electorate. I also strongly believe National has the best plan to fix the economy to reduce the cost of living, restore law and order, as well as improve education standards and health outcomes. National will be a strong and steady government at a time when New Zealand needs one.

About me

I have lived in the northwest of Auckland for nearly a decade. With three school-aged children I know how much the cost of living crisis is hurting families. Having been self-employed for a decade, an Auckland business advocate, and an Auckland Council elected representative for three terms, I deeply understand the region's issues and know what needs to be done for the Upper Harbour community – particularly around transport infrastructure and community assets and public space.

My priorities
  1. Fix the economy to reduce the cost of living (and interest rates) for all Upper Harbour residents.
  2. Restore law and order with a strong focus on serious youth offending and cracking down on the gangs.
  3. Deliver better public services including better healthcare outcomes and higher education standards.
