Auckland Council

North Shore Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

As an Auckland councillor, I will put community first and fight for the North Shore. There are a number of important matters that will be addressed this term, including flood mitigation, unitary plan changes, new maintenance contract, rubbish collection frequency and congestion charging. I want to ensure that the North Shore is not adversely affected.

About me

I have been chair of the Kaipātiki Local Board for 8 years and have a total of 18 years governance experience. I'm positive and passionate about our North Shore community. I was born on the North Shore, grew up on the Shore, attended Takapuna Grammar School and have continued to live on the Shore for most of my life.

My priorities
  1. Replace the unfair fairer funding model for local boards as North Shore budgets are being slashed.
  2. Fix Lake Road by adding a transit lane in each direction during peak time and fix Onewa Road by creating clearways.
  3. Ensure flood minimisation, particularly in the Wairau catchment, and increase preventative maintenance.
