Auckland Council

Waitematā and Gulf Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). one councillor will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I'm standing for the role of ward councillor for the Waitematā and Gulf because we need a new breed of councillors – with drive and energy, the commercial and financial acumen to make wise decisions about complex multi-billion dollar issues – and who have an aspirational vision for Auckland as one of the world's great cities. I've proven that I have all of these attributes. I want to use them to make a positive difference.

About me

I am experienced in Auckland local body politics. I have a deep understanding of the way Auckland Council operates and my time on the Waitematā Local Board as chair has prepared me well for the role of councillor. I'm certainly not coming into this under-prepared. I have high levels of engagement with our community. I've been instrumental in delivering tangible and positive community outcomes.

My priorities
  1. Exercise genuine fiscal responsibility around the council table.
  2. Prioritise improving core infrastructure.
  3. Fund Tātaki properly to develop a year round programme of major events to drive economic growth.
