Why I'm standing

I believe Auckland is sleepwalking its way into an economic death spiral. There appears to be no reliable source of cost control within council. Once upon a time city councils prided themselves on efficiently lowering costs and supplying better services. I doubt that it is only my opinion that Auckland Council has become a large unwieldy beast that has no ability to self-audit or to become what the ratepayers need.

About me

My experience as a quantity surveyor added to my ability to use software to do data analytics will help me to uncover the real costs of local governance. I can see gaps in the current 10 year plan that need addressing. Councils have a record of bringing projects in over budget. I believe I can analyse the projected costs of any new project to determine if they are realistic.

My priorities
  1. Address a series of extreme economic storms that have emerged and are affecting us.
  2. Ensure future projects are not over budget by analysing projected costs better.
  3. Lower rates. Truly lower the rates.
