Auckland Council

Waitematā and Gulf Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). one councillor will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

City Vision

Why I'm standing

I am passionate about Auckland's potential. I feel councillor is the best place for the skills I have developed and the positive vision I hold for this to be the greatest little city on the globe. I am standing for this ward as I am a city lover and can see many local opportunities to fix ongoing big problems and address bigger more global ones, like cost of living and climate change.

About me

I am a committed life-long Aucklander where I have raised a family and run a business. I am ambitious for our city on the sparkling Waitematā. I have a wealth of experience in governance, including four years on the NZTA board where I learnt how government works and how misunderstood our biggest city is there. I helped found Greater Auckland, the influential not-for-profit focussed on fixing our city's transport and urban form issues.

My priorities
  1. Assist the mayor in dealing with government, which I am well qualified for. This is council's most critical role.
  2. Rebalance transport and urban form to upgrade access to work and education, reducing congestion, pollution and cost.
  3. Repair community, upgrade and green neighbourhoods, balance budgets and uplift with arts, sports and events.
