The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). one councillor will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am standing as a candidate for Whau ward councillor to serve our local community with a strong and authentic voice for all. I think that real engagement with all our community has been lacking. If elected I will ensure our community's voice and aspirations are heard and reflected at council, no cuts to our public services, stop wasteful spending and focus on core services being delivered locally.

About me

I will bring to council, treating all people as equals and being able to respectfully listen to people's views and concerns. I have a no-nonsense ability to get things done with a strong work ethic. Strong ability to connect with all members of our community.

My priorities
  1. Engage local trades, service providers and self-employed for council services.
  2. Advocate for council to spend on core services sensibly and stop wasteful vanity projects.
  3. Keep refuse rubbish collection weekly and do not change it to fortnightly.
