Why I'm standing

I believe inflation, climate change and central government pressure for councils to do more with less have not been adequately balanced with ratepayer expectations to do more with the same. I believe Buller is a great place to live, work, play, visit, grow up and grow old. I want to make it greater together as an effective team. I believe without ratepayers, councils and central government working together more effectively we will fail to achieve a greater Buller.

About me

I have 40 years experience in the New Zealand Army—including crisis management, disaster relief, peacekeeping, nation building, policy writing, fiscal planning, capability development and combat. I have been recognised for leadership and problem-solving by New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the UK and the USA. I am committed to serving Buller through innovative, collaborative leadership and avoiding rate increases. Buller's people, resources and natural beauty can help us build a prosperous and vibrant community together.

My priorities
  1. Improve fiscal management and decision making that negates the requirement for rates increases.
  2. Empower people and organisations to get the job done as locally and cost-effectively as possible.
  3. Promote Buller's approach to resource extraction as economically and environmentally sustainable.
