Mayor of Christchurch
The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I am running due to the billions of dollars of debt Christchurch city council has, it is time to cut wasteful spending and focus on the needs of Christchurch residents.
About me
I'm a gardener. I am the owner/operator of Thomas's Garden Support. I am with the Canterbury community garden association and the Canterbury herb society and the founding member of the Christchurch foraging club. I want to make Christchurch truly the garden city.
My priorities
- Secure foraging areas, community garden space and plant fruit and nut trees in public parks.
- Secure pure water supply with no chemicals.
- Secure safe roads for emergency vehicles.
