Environment Canterbury

Christchurch Central/Ōhoko Constituency
Environment Canterbury is the regional council for Canterbury. It makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of up to 16 councillors. are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region), including two councillors from the Christchurch Central/Ōhoko  constituency. Up to two councillors can be appointed by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I am proud to call Canterbury home and want to ensure it remains a great place to live, work and raise a family. I see as a teacher how today's decisions shape tomorrow's opportunities. I am standing for Environment Canterbury to bring fresh energy, strong local knowledge and a commitment to listening, working together and making smart, transparent decisions that protect and strengthen our region for future generations.

About me

I am a Christchurch Boys' High School old boy, high school geography teacher and holder of a Master's degree in Education endorsed in leadership. I bring strong community roots, proven leadership and a commitment to making decisions that serve our region's long-term wellbeing. I will deliver practical, evidence-based decisions that benefit everyone in our region.

My priorities
  1. Protect freshwater by cutting pollution and overuse for healthy, safe water.
  2. Expand clean, reliable public transport to reduce congestion and emissions.
  3. Boost collaboration with local councils to cut waste and improve services.
