Environment Southland

Invercargill-Rakiura Constituency
Environment Southland is the regional council for Southland. It makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 12 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). six councillors will be elected from the Invercargill-Rakiura  constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I'm standing for Environment Southland because I care deeply about our people, our environment, and our future. I believe local government plays a vital role in preparing our region for the challenges ahead while creating opportunities for our communities to thrive. I want to bring fresh energy, strong collaboration, and a community-focused approach to council, ensuring decisions are made with transparency and in the best interests of Murihiku Southland.

I've lived, worked, and built connections across Murihiku Southland, giving me a deep understanding of our people and places. I'm collaborative, practical, and committed to making decisions that balance community wellbeing, environmental care, and economic resilience. Through my work with local organisations and community initiatives, I've developed strong governance experience and a proven ability to bring people together. I believe in listening deeply, leading with integrity, and ensuring all voices are heard.

My priorities
  1. Strengthen climate resilience to protect people, homes, and communities from future impacts.
  2. Protect waterways and biodiversity to ensure thriving ecosystems and healthy kai for all.
  3. Build strong community partnerships so Murihiku Southland thrives together, now and in the future.
