Mayor of Far North District

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees.     Make waste minimisation simple as cost increases will drive a proliferation of illegal dumping.

    Support public access to the natural environment to enhance quality of life, increasing environmental awareness and protection.

  • Collaborate with Northland Regional Council on water quality, preservation, biodiversity and pest control measures.

    Consult on council providing standardised kerbside waste management services.

    Ensure the new solid waste strategy and waste management and minimisation plans are operationalised.
