Waiuku Subdivision
The Franklin Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Introduce a council requirement for all new public facilities to include baby change systems.

    Minimise the negative impact of urban sprawl on current assets of value, including recreational spaces, schools and productive land, to the community.

    Retain heritage buildings and fixtures and increase protections for them.

  • Advocate for large lots with onsite off-grid utilities to build resilience into the system without increasing rates for existing residents.

    Support private water harvesting to increase water quality, increase infrastructure diversity, reduce system demands and thus reduce rates.

    Support quality urban development projects that benefit the community and increase revenue opportunities for businesses.

  • Submit on plan changes to protect Waiuku character areas and seek design guidance that keeps scale and infrastructure capacity in balance.

    Support only further subdivisions where roads, water and drainage are in place or fully funded.

    Create small grants for Waiuku shopfront upgrades and heritage repairs, delivered with a local partner and matched by owners.
