Golden Bay Community Board

The Golden Bay Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Tasman District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of four members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence. Many councils have plans to reduce emissions in their area and are working to help their communities adapt to a warming world.

    Allow current beachfront owners to manage their own sea walls.

  • Ensure all councillors and board members have training in civil defence and engage with local communities to make plans for isolation scenarios.

    Manage rivers from a rivercentric perspective rather than the humancentric way currently used and stop people building on flood plains and shorelines.

    Reduce speed on roads to lessen greenhouse emissions and reduce fuel consumption.
