Golden Bay Community Board

The Golden Bay Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Tasman District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of four members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Create and maintain safe drinking water practices without chlorine and fluoridation.

    Create a programme to reduce waste including an update to all households on how waste is currently managed.

    Investigate alternatives to current pesticide practices, including using steam instead of poison as some councils are exploring.

  • Start with manufacturers and retailers to make it more difficult to sell products with excessive packaging and support sustainable practices.

    Support eradication of pest groups such as Project Onetahu and make sure every policy and decision covers environmental issues.

    Tighten up discharges into waterways policy, monitor farms closely and respect rivers as living systems.
