Why I'm standing

I have been invested in Horizons River Schemes for 25 years as they protect my home and business. Horizons rates are a significant cost for me, and the cumulative two-year rate increases for my businesses of 24% and 30% are unsustainable. I also want to lead new thinking of partnering with the community on environmental work instead of employing people with a ute.

About me

30 years of business experience in ag, hort, marketing, logistics and commercial property. 20 years of involvement in river schemes, including the last 10 years as chair of the liaison committee overseeing the Palmy’s 500 flood protection. Using my business skills in the community as a volunteer to lead the team that has built the Arapuke MTB Park, raising $2.5 million and now contributing $5 million per annum to the local economy, plus other recreation trails.

My priorities
  1. Ensure affordable rates with rate increases in line with inflation, not 15% per annum.
  2. Lead new environmental thinking focused on partnering with the community.
  3. Set policy to maintain flood protection with the threat of climate change and council reviews.
