Huntly Community Board

The Huntly Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waikato District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members: six members elected by voters, and two members from the Waikato District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Huntly Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I am from Huntly and I see its potential. I believe Huntly has had a bad reputation for a long time and I want to be part of changing that narrative.

About me

I was born and raised in Huntly and now I manage Creative Huntly, along with being a trust member of the Huntly Museum. Both these projects required renovation and upgrades to existing buildings within our community, bringing old buildings back to life and giving them purpose again. I have community connections along with a passion for improving unused and unutilised spaces, which is why I feel I would make a good representative for my community.

My priorities
  1. Continue improving recreational spaces while ensuring their ongoing maintenance.
  2. Work with animal control to reduce roaming dogs and improve safety in public spaces.
  3. Work with police and community groups to reduce illegal dirt bike use on public roads.
