The Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of seven members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. four members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Keep cycle ways and walking tracks clean and clear of rubbish, fix potholes and repair uneven or damaged footpaths.

    Provide affordable and reliable public transport that is easy to access.

  • Fix broken footpaths and driveway slopes and avoid council initiatives with chicanes and speed bumps that promote congestion.

    Promote passenger ferries from Half Moon Bay to help ease traffic and implement other earlier mentioned initiatives.

    Rationalise off-peak bus times which are expensive to run.Rationalise the Glen Innes walking and cycling lanes.

  • Advocate for better roading and parking designs to ensure all modes of transport can move around streets with less congestion.

    Advocate for urban design that makes it easy for communities to access what they need on short trips or by using active modes of transport.

    Work with Auckland Transport to ensure public transport services and routes are well connected and meet community needs.

  • Advocate with Auckland Council and, if needed, central government to ensure the community is well represented.

    Establish a children and youth free bicycle programme for cycling and commit to reducing emissions by 50% by 2030.
