New Plymouth District Council

The New Plymouth District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the five councillors elected by all voters in the district. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the district). This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the New Plymouth District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I feel like our district has a lot of value but it is being underutilised by the current administration. We need to take more pride in what we have and promote a healthier and more involved community, bringing matters back into the hands of the district and, by extension, its people. Council contractors need to be more efficient and effective with time and money.

About me

I am a common community man who doesn't seek prestige and status, only to serve and represent the community I have been a lifelong member of with honesty, integrity and accountability.

My priorities
  1. Create a plan for managing our debt, considering short and long-term expenditure necessity.
  2. Ensure projects are reasonable, fulfilled and efficient.
  3. Review underground infrastructure, making repairs and replacements where necessary.
