Puketāpapa Local Board

The Puketāpapa Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Advocate for funding of homelessness support in the suburbs of Auckland through social service providers.

    Advocate for social and affordable housing projects that have been deferred in Wesley and Roskill South to restart.

  • Address housing affordability as a critical issue where households can afford and pay for housing costs, including rent or mortgage.

    Improve the building consent process, including resource consent, to reduce waiting times.

    Support the Auckland Council long-term plan for urban spaces that shape how people live, work and connect as a community.

  • Advocate strongly for improvements in the conditions of rental accommodation as the community has too many mouldy homes.

    Encourage fruit tree planting on berms so that streetscapes are valued and cared for by locals.

    Work closely with developers to incentivise community input in the design and implementation of housing developments.

  • Ensure building standards are being met in new high-density housing developments.

    Ensure renters have support to understand their rights and obligations, especially regarding healthy homes standards.

    Work with community groups to develop better outreach and initiatives to help the increasing number of unhoused people in Puketāpapa.
