Why I'm standing

As an immigrant 33 years ago, I owe it to NZ and my community to serve. For instance, the health system saved the life of my premature newborn son while I was on a tourist visa. I do not want NZ and the Lakes Region to make the same mistakes as others have, including low-quality unplanned development and over-tourism. I have 30-plus years in finance and asset management and can finance infrastructure.

About me

I believe in good governance; I was a "licensed independent trustee" (FMA, 36 in NZ) for seven years. I believe in collaboration, listening to diverse voices and mutual respect. I have been on many boards and currently chair two boards. The current QLDC does not exhibit good governance. Meetings are "toxic" (quote, current councillor). There has to be a cultural change that is exhibited by individual councillors.

My priorities
  1. Ensure good governance and culture with the council functioning as a collaborative and respectful group.
  2. Solve the infrastructure deficit in bridges, roading, water delivery and sewerage treatment.
  3. Finance the infrastructure deficit through a bed tax, user pays, long-term debt and private equity.
