Raglan Community Board

The Raglan Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waikato District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members: six members elected by voters, and two members from the Waikato District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Raglan Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I think Raglan is a great small town, but on the cusp of change. I think I can contribute to the range of views, analysis and ideas needed to navigate this.

About me

I spent the first half of my working life in justice, helping offenders and victims, and now work as an analyst with the Department of Conservation. I have a broad world view with a dual emphasis on human and environmental values. This kind of sums Raglan up, I think – it makes me a good fit. I also know WDC, having been business improvement manager there, reporting to the CE, from 2010 to 2012.

My priorities
  1. Maintain unbiased democracy and freedom of speech, making sure all views are heard and respected.
  2. Think very carefully about Raglan's future direction and how to wisely use the beautiful space.
  3. Drive continued improvement of the harbour's water quality.
