North Tararua General Ward
The Tararua District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). four councillors will be elected from the North Tararua ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Ensure any group has full access to council resources for community activities and aid in cutting through red tape for one-off events.

    Help link community volunteer groups with other groups wanting to do any event so the community can help each other as a team.

    Link any funding with national funding so ratepayers are not footing the bill for events that increase our already overpaid rates.

  • Create safer spaces throughout centralised townships to prevent anti-social behaviour and invest more into CCTV footage and lighting.

    Enhance and upgrade public spaces with recreational activities or projects that benefit the community and youth.

    Host more community events, markets and festivals that promote the district and bring in tourism and spending in the local economy.
