Tasman District Council
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). two councillors will be elected from the Golden Bay ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
I am running because I want our region to thrive within its ecological limits, ensuring that economic growth does not compromise the health of our land, water and communities. I am concerned that short-term decisions risk undermining long-term wellbeing.
About me
With a masters degree in environmental policy and management, I bring a new view of how things can be done. I listen carefully, value collaboration, relationships, respect, trust and aim to make decisions guided by evidence, fairness and the principle that our actions today shape the wellbeing of future generations.
My priorities
- Promote wellbeing approaches and planetary boundaries frameworks within council and the community.
- Support programmes linking people to nature, learning and local resources for wellbeing.
- Embed wellbeing economics and planetary boundaries into council policies.
