Mayor of Thames-Coromandel

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Thames-Coromandel District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

After three years in the job there is unfinished business which I want to see through to completion. I have a passion for the people and the environment of the Coromandel Peninsula and a vision for how I can contribute to the Coromandel being the best place to live, work and play.

About me

I have spent a considerable part of the last three years in my term travelling the district and engaging with people in every part of the Coromandel. We are a district of diverse communities, each with their own needs and issues. Listening to these issues directly with the locals is an essential part of the job, and one I enjoy very much.

My priorities
  1. Establish a fully resourced interface for direct connection between community and council.
  2. Plan council and community integration of transfer stations and resource recovery centres.
  3. Review council operations to identify potential cost savings and make an honest assessment of available options.
