South East General Ward
The Thames-Coromandel District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). two councillors will be elected from the South East ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Commit to thoroughly and regularly updating and reviewing all civil defence policies, including potentially reversing past decisions on sirens if warranted.

    Encourage greenhouse gas emission reductions through fuel and energy efficiency across the district, including vehicles and building designs.

  • Ensure council meets all obligations regarding climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.

    Support existing emergency management and civil defence strategies including advancing community response awareness initiatives.

    Undertake a long-term plan on the climate change risk, potential impacts, required actions, costs and its level of priority.
