Climate change and resilience

Climate change poses a huge challenge for communities as more frequent extreme weather events require us to rethink how we live and where. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence. Many councils have plans to reduce emissions in their area and are working to help their communities adapt to a warming world.

  • Help people adapt to climate change.

Support emergency management and civil defence.

  • Commit to a severe cut in the hyperbole around the climate change debate and stick to facts.

Hear the community's view on climate change and pass this sentiment on to the council to ensure community input moves up the chain and does not rubber stamp council.

Open up debate on climate change if people wish to speak on the subject and allow a community board to hear out all opinions.
