Why I'm standing

I am concerned that there is little public understanding or engagement with regional council decisions and policy implementation. I would like to see improved communication and transparency. I am passionate about protecting and restoring our natural environment for future generations. I believe building resilience to climate change will play a large part in that process. I would love to see all government bodies, whether central, regional or district, working together to create solutions.

About me

I am a professional communicator who can provide an effective voice for my local community. I live rurally but have strong connections to several towns in the Waihou region. Because of this, I can easily bridge the gap between rural and urban viewpoints and the different issues we face. An intelligent, independent thinker, I'm also a team player who is happy to work collaboratively with fellow councillors to achieve the best outcomes for our region.

My priorities
  1. Improve communication to increase community engagement and understanding of council activities.
  2. Research outcomes of increased severe weather events due to climate change and improve resilience.
  3. Work to improve water quality in freshwater and coastal areas using science based solutions.
