Mayor of Waipā

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. Why I'm standing

I deeply care about Waipā and believe our community deserves open, honest and effective leadership. I am standing to ensure people's voices are heard and make sure council focuses first on getting the basics right and then adding great amenities across our district while partnering with the community to deliver this.

About me

I have lived and worked in Waipā for 28 years and know our community well. As a school principal and long-time leader, I bring strong governance experience, a proven record of service and the ability to listen carefully and work with people from all walks of life. I believe in fairness, transparency and building partnerships that strengthen our district for the long term.

My priorities
  1. Keep rates affordable by ensuring council spending focuses on core service and essential infrastructure.
  2. Deliver better transport solutions by working with government and community to improve road safety.
  3. Protect parks and reserves by safeguarding green spaces and recreation areas from overdevelopment.
