Waitematā Local Board

The Waitematā Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of seven members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waitematā Local Board election.

Why I'm standing

I adore my home city but feel that for a number of years some factions have fought to cut and reduce city choices, rather than fighting for the best future-capable city. I am passionate about passing on the best city we can for those future generations, and I cannot do that to the extent I believe we should by shouting from the sidelines. I am a future-facing peacemaker and I believe I can be useful.

About me

I work well with others. As an actor I have learned and honed the craft of listening – the most important part of good communication and advocacy. I have served on governance boards including recognition for Baseball NZ and I am the president of Auckland Flyfishing Anglers Club. I have a broad canvas of experience as a parent, writer, presenter, director and motorcycle advocate. I have served with Actors Equity and I have an enquiring mind. I will serve faithfully.

My priorities
  1. Make Auckland the hub of the Pacific for arts, film, TV, music, gaming, production and delivery.
  2. Prioritise water protection and welfare of local waterways and gulf and design best flood resilience.
  3. Finalise and support a cohesive, timely and affordable rapid transit system and make Auckland 21st century ready.
