Whangārei Urban General Ward
The Whangārei District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). five councillors will be elected from the Whangārei Urban ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. I am a fifth generation local living in Whangārei with my extended family and I care deeply about those who live here. I have a PhD in community development, masters in counselling, and teaching qualifications. I have established businesses and community facilities, many in Whangārei. I have 30 plus years in governance.

About me

I have spent my life working for those who have struggles in Whangārei and elsewhere. I have set up Food Rescue, Climate Action Taitokerau, Mothers Moving Mountains 'Mumma Moving Maunga' and other self-help and community groups.

My priorities
  1. Build pensioner housing, adapt to and mitigate climate change and support small business and a vibrant city.
  2. Adapt to and mitigate climate change.
  3. Support small business and engender a vibrant creative city.
