Auckland Council

Waitākere Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am independent no political party connection, no affiliation to community groups. I adhere to practical solutions with no hidden agenda. Our people have lost faith in council. I stand to restore faith and advise cost effect alternative solutions. A notice board added on council website for local community to review activities and provide feedback on performance. It is important we restore respect to our voters and encourage involvement on decisions.

About me

I am a qualified building surveyor and community volunteer. I have lived/worked north, east and south, but I always come home to West Auckland. My family provided the first housing for homeless, initiated the first work training scheme with central government, carrying out construction, parks, reserves and also the first refuse/recycling collection. I have been involved with residential, commercial and heritage. I'm a proud mother of a special needs young adult and charitable patron.

My priorities
  1. No to rates increase, our people need time to recover from the financial effects of Covid.
  2. No to new rail at this stage, our people need time to recover from the financial effects of Covid.
  3. No to mayor and councillor salary increase. Council need to recover trust and respect from voters.
