Auckland Council

Waitākere Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). Two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I'm over the wasteful spending and lack of accountability of our hard-earned ratepayers' money. I'm tired of council voting on issues without opening consultation with the shareholders of the city, US! I want public servants that will represent the city ratepayers, not councillors that believe the ratepayers are there to serve them. I'm disgusted with rate rises that seem to only deliver more bureaucrats and no quantifiable outcomes.

About me

I'm here for the issues, not the politics, I grew up and raised my family in Titirangi, and now living in the Nor-West, so still a Westie. Married for twenty years with a daughter. After school, I started my career as a tradie, then ship master with a diploma in nautical science. Now a successful business owner manufacturing products in NZ for New Zealand families. But It's about you and get your power back.

My priorities
  1. Fix our roads which are a mess and dangerous. People are dying, and traffic is a nightmare.
  2. Address infrastructure deficit in our communities where development outpaces available utilities.
  3. I will oppose our Watercare asset being amalgamated into Three Waters/two waters.
