Devonport-Takapuna Local Board

The Devonport-Takapuna Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Upgrade public facilities, especially bathrooms, parks, playgrounds, seating, accessible changing rooms, dog walking amenities and water fountains.

    Create more events, festivals, children's activities, music, carnivals, cultural celebrations and art to bring more joy to everyone.

    Upgrade sporting facilities, especially those that are at capacity, have high use and are in growth areas.

  • Review community facilities/funding of events to ensure balance of patronage/cost/support.

  • Support the arts and culture facilities in the Devonport-Takapūna Local Board area. I have been a strong supporter since my time as the North Shore mayor.

    Push for an early roll out of the local alcohol policy that Auckland Council has been finding difficult to get actioned.

    Maintain high-quality sports facilities including the development of 50 metre swimming pool in conjunction with local school in Devonport-Takapūna Local Board area.

    Improve access and participation in sports through capital investment, contestable grants, and council-led activations.

    Advocate for an improved Takapūna Library and Community Services facility that meets current and future needs of residents.

  • Continue to support and resource sports clubs and arts groups.

    Continue to ensure swimming pools are accessible to all and costs are affordable.

    Continue to control where and when liquor licensing should be allowed, keep public events free of alcohol.

  • Push for more community events. People are desperate to engage in community and with Matariki we've seen the success we can achieve!

    Modernise public facilities. We have lots of great options in the DTLB but they need improving to encourage patrons to walk through the door.

    Diversify sporting facilities. A field can serve many sports so why not. Encourage community sports options to better serve the community.
