Franklin Local Board

Waiuku Subdivision
The Franklin Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Improving our parks and recreational spaces and ensuring all our play spaces are inclusive, fit for purpose and cater for all youth.

    Supporting community groups to deliver events that bring value to the area like local markets, festivals and events.

  • Establish community gardens to encourage locals to grow their own vegetables as a way of addressing cost of living pressures and isolation.

    Partner with mana whenua to tell their stories, eg work with Ngāti Te Ata and the Waiuku Trails Committee to promote the Awaroa Portage.
