Franklin Local Board

Waiuku Subdivision
The Franklin Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Invest in predator controls, restoration of wetlands, riparian planting and fencing around waterways, protection of our forestry areas.

    Promote regenerative horticulture, eg biodiversity, building healthy soils, less reliance on synthetic fertilisers.

    Eliminate dumping of waste on rural roadsides and beaches which is clogging our streams and rivers.

  • Commit to continued improvements taking into account future growth and the pressure this puts onto public infrastructure.

    Commit to safe and effective pest control to support local birdlife, bats and plants and their natural ecosystems.

  • Support initiatives to fence off streams and waterways and promote riparian planting to keep our waterways clean.

    Support pest-free management and biodiversity initiatives in the area to protect birdlife and flora and fauna.

    Support Zero Waste in Waiuku that diverts thousands of tons from our landfills each year.
