Franklin Local Board

Waiuku Subdivision
The Franklin Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for roading and intersection improvements and repairs to potholes on many of our roads in Franklin.

    Advocate for improved public transport linkages for Waiuku including mini vans and more frequent and reliable services.

  • Prioritise fit-for-purpose roads taking into account heavy vehicle usage and future traffic volumes.

    Ongoing improvement of public transport services that are reliable and provide regular access to central networks.

  • Advocate for transport improvements that deliver safer speed limits and fix rural roads unsuited for large scale urban development.

    Connect the Franklin coastline with Manurewa either by a bridge into Weymouth or ferry service.

    Provide better park and ride facilities and mini-bus services, especially when the electrification of the train to Pukekohe is completed.

  • Ensure our roading network is assessed often for safety and condition and improvements and repairs are done to a high standard.

    Push for more roundabouts to ease congestion at pressure point intersections and installation of calming measures around schools.

    Advocate for future Manukau Harbour ferry transport from the Waiuku Ward through to Onehunga.
