Franklin Local Board

The Franklin Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Push back against high-density housing National Policy Statement for Urban Development. We don't have sufficient public transport or cycleways to support them.

    Keep our car parks as we don't have sufficient public transport to have them taken away. People need their cars in rural remote areas.

  • Advocate for providing sufficient infrastructure BEFORE new housing developments are permitted.

  • Raise awareness of blanket zoning throughout Auckland regardless of the vast community living styles and access to amenities.

    Support ongoing housing upgrades with a focus on sustainability and healthy home environments for all.

  • Plan for urban growth by investing in services that meet the needs of those who live there, eg public transport, health services.

    Limit urban sprawl by advocating for measures that protect local productive farmland and reduce reliance on international food supplies.

    Ease restrictions that prevent intensification of unproductive lifestyle blocks.
