Hibiscus and Bays Local Board
The Hibiscus and Bays Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of eight members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Four members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
I believe the East Coast Bays deserves more. I am a strong, experienced and independent candidate who will ensure the views of our community are considered at every level of decision making. We must invest in the infrastructure our community needs to live, work and play within the local board area.
About me
I have led the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board as deputy chair, emphasising transparency, accountability and action. Prior, I spent six years advocating to council and central government for our residents as electorate agent for MP's Hon Murray McCully then Erica Stanford. I'm a volunteer trustee for Life Education North Shore, member of the Institute of Directors, executive member of a local business association and an active volunteer with many of our wonderful community organisations.
My priorities
- Infrastructure. Congestion is crippling our roading and sewage spews onto our beaches when it rains.
- Stricter accountability and oversight of Auckland Transport, Auckland Unlimited, Watercare and Panuku.
- Bringing a laser focus on value for money for ratepayers and our community.
