Why I'm standing

I will ensure there is a strong voice for the environment at the council table to make sure the council takes its core duty of environmental stewardship seriously. My focus is on decision making that has a long term view – making sure we are planning for future generations and not making decisions today that we will regret tomorrow.

About me

I have been a committed and active councillor on Horizons for the past three terms and am currently the council chairperson. In my role as chair, I have built strong relationships with central government, iwi, local government and other stakeholders, which enables me to enhance the work that council does. The direction of travel by council has changed substantially under my leadership and I look forward to continuing to make strong progress.

My priorities
  1. Ensure our communities are resilient to the ever increasing impacts of climate change.
  2. Implement a freshwater plan change that will truly protect and enhance our freshwater.
  3. Make people realise we can't have infinite growth on a finite planet therefore change is imperative.
