Horizons Regional Council

Palmerston North General Constituency
The Horizons Regional Council is the regional council for the Manawatū-Whanganui region. It makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Four councillors will be elected from the Palmerston North constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I believe we need to clean up our rivers, we need to find solutions to our issues and work collaboratively across central and local government. So we leave it in a better state then when we inherit it. For our mokōpuna!

About me

I am kaumatua for Rangitāne o Manawatū, we have been here for 800 years and we will be here in the next forever many years. I believe as iwi we hold the best knowledge to solutions we need to make this whenua better then it currently is. Out of partnership comes relationship. "Kua kaupapa iau te aroha, mā koutou e whakaoti" nā Te Peeti Te Awe Awe.

My priorities
  1. Clean up our awa, get everyone's waste out bring back the mauri and it's marine life.
  2. Ensure that all voices are heard at the council table and the people we represent.
  3. Move to electric cars and work on best practise and current trends to enable this to happen.
