Kere Kere General Ward
The Horowhenua District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Kere Kere ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Address with Horowhenua Regional Council the public transport system or lack of it in the district.

    Give due consideration to pedestrians, cyclists and mobility scooters improving accessibility and road crossings.

    Plan electric recharge facilities and possible sharing of E-bikes, E-scooters and mobility scooters, paying attention to where they can be used.

  • Implement a meaningful coordinated public transport strategy with HRC, NZ Transport Agency and others for a holistic, integrated transport system.

    Ensure any transport strategy truly does meet the needs of our growing district.

    Support the expressway linking Ōtaki to Levin and the government's investigation into electrifying the rail line from Waikanae to Levin.
