Kaipara District Council

Wairoa General Ward
The Kaipara District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Wairoa ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Kaipara District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe there is huge potential for Dargaville and the Northern Wairoa. I have seen over the years the slow stifling of growth in this area and this has come out in the draft release of the proposed district plan. I believe that I have the skills and working knowledge to ensure the best possible plan is presented for the future of Dargaville and the Northern Wairoa. We need houses to accommodate the workers now!

About me

I am a practical common sense problem solver. A proven history of achievement and I am able to weather the storm and not take matters personally to ensure the right outcome is achieved. Stoic, hardworking, sensible, creative and honest is what you'll get with me as a councillor.

My priorities
  1. Get the current proposed district plan sorted so it becomes easy to build and live in the area.
  2. Ensure that the council sticks to it core business of serving the ratepayers and residents.
  3. Continue to serve the community with integrity and honesty.
