Mayor of Kāpiti Coast

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Kāpiti Coast District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I love Kāpiti. I love the environment, the hills, a, the sea, but most of all I love the people and the way they contribute, from running food banks and housing trusts, to planting trees and caring for the environment, to looking after neighbours and coming together in times of crisis. As Mayor I look forward to supporting all of this incredible work.

About me

I bring experience and a deep understanding of our community. As well as Deputy Mayor, my roles have included District-wide and Ward Councillor, Community Board member and chair, and I've been a long-standing member of Local Government's National Policy Advisory Group. I have enjoyed five years serving on the Electra Trust Board, nine years on the Mahara Gallery Trust Board and am a qualified RMA Commissioner Chair. I have lived in Paekākāriki for 17 years.

My priorities
  1. Ensure growth supports affordable housing, public and active transport and the environment.
  2. Ensure Council is pulling every lever to reduce emissions in the organisation and the district.
  3. Build the Waikanae library as quickly as possible.
